About us
GMWA is a non-governmental organization, which was established in Tbilisi in 1999, in Jordania St. Director General of the Institute of Human Reproduction A. Khomasuridze's initiative.

GMWA is a member of the International Association of Women Doctors, which was established in New York in 1919 and represents a federation of women doctors' associations and individual members from 88 countries of all five continents. http://www.mwia.net

Currently, the International Association of Women Doctors has Category II consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and is officially affiliated with the World Health Organization.

More than 150 doctors working in various fields of medicine are members of GMWA. Among them there are many heads of clinics, departments, doctors of medicine, professors; Famous doctors in Georgia.    
GMWA has branches in Kakheti region and Kutaisi.

Goals
Based on the goals of the International Association of Women Doctors, the goals of GMWA are:

  • To promote the relationship and friendship of women doctors of Georgia with women doctors of other countries, regardless of their race, religion and political views.
  • To promote the international cooperation of women doctors of Georgia in the field of practical healthcare and scientific research.
  • To support women doctors of Georgia in raising their professionalism, sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues from other countries.
  • To conduct scientific, epidemiological studies, educational work, other practical measures to improve the health of the population, especially women, and to establish a healthy way of life.
  • To help retired, single, sick female doctors, young mothers, to improve their health and living conditions.
  • To contribute to the elimination of gender inequality in the field of health care - between women and men, girls and boys.
  • To contribute to the elimination of gender inequality in the medical profession.
