33rd World Congress of the Medical Women International Association (MWIA) – October 12-14, 2025 Cairo, Egypt
The Georgian Medical Women Association (GMWA) participated with dignity in the 33rd World Congress of the Medical Women International Association (MWIA), held on October 12-14, 2025 in Cairo.
The Congress was attended by 450 delegates from different parts of the world - doctors, scientists and representatives of international organizations working on women's health and equality issues.
The Congress was distinguished by high-level speakers, workshops, discussions and interactive sessions, that addressed current challenges and innovations in women's health.
During the Congress, the Georgian delegation achieved several victories. Upon the nomination of the Georgian Medical Women Association, the secretary General of MWIA Mrs. Mariam Jashi, was unanimously reelected at the post Secretary General of MWIA s for the second term. The President of the Georgian Medical Women Association, Professor Nino Zhvania, became an honorary member of the MWIA. The main victory was the following - the Congress was to determine the winning country by secret ballot to hold the 34th World Congress of the Medical Women’s International Association in 2028. This victory was won by the Georgian delegation - defeating the delegations of China and India in a secret ballot.
We are pleased that in 2028, Tbilisi will host the World Congress of Medical Women’s International Association which will be dedicated to the current issues of women's health.
